Graupner/Kyosho LandJump 4WD

One of my hobbys used to be rc car racing. First scale 1:8 (mainly off-road cars), later 1:5 scale touring cars.

The 1:8 cars were powered by a one-cilinder 3,5 ccm engine producing about 1.5 Bhp/30.000 rpm (!). Fuel was a mixture of methanol, oil and nitro oxygen. Top speed of the cars was about 70 km/h. Some of my early cars were 2 wheel drive, later they all were 4 WD.

The 1:5 scale cars are powered by modified 22 ccm chainsaw engines. They are rear wheel drive and have a top speed of about 80 km/h. Fuel is a normal 2-stroke mixture which is relatively cheap compared to the 1:8 fuel. In general the large 1:5 cars are more reliable than the 1:8 cars, and as long as you don't hit anything with it, they never break down. Also you don't need a complex start-box, you simply pull the cord and most cases the engine will start immediately.

About contacting me...

If you want to know more about one of these cars, feel free to mail me. However, since 1996 I quit  racing in the Dutch competitions 1:5 scale, and I haven't driven a 1:8 scale off-road car since 1988. So if you wan't to know where to buy cars, or want to get up-to-date information about off-road cars, don't mail me, but take a look at the two links mentioned above first. Thanks.
